Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals

Baptism

Baptism of adults or children is conducted at Westgate New Church, usually within the regular Sunday morning worship service, and following preparation. The minister is happy to discuss how Westgate can help arrange a baptism. There is more information about baptism under the following link (Please click):

For those who wish their children to be able to make their own choice later in life, but want to bring the child to the church for the support and prayer that are offered, a service of infant dedication can be arranged.

See below to contact the minister.

Marriage

Weddings can be conducted for couples eligible to marry under English law. Please arrange to discuss your marriage plans with the minister, who will help you plan your special day. That will usually involve at least three meetings, often some months apart.

Please note, however, that weddings of same-sex couples cannot legally be carried out at Westgate as, at the present time, neither of our participating denominations (Methodist and United Reformed) have sanctioned such ceremonies.

See below to contact the minister.

Funerals and Thanksgiving Services for a Deceased Person

We are always ready to host funeral or thanksgiving services for members or other deceased persons. The minister is available to support families in their loss, and to assist in choosing music, hymns, readings and other material, either religious or secular, appropriate for the celebration of a life.
